Terms of Service & Privacy Policy

Last Updated: August 2026

Welcome to Lens HRV. Data privacy and user trust are core principles of this project. These Terms outline your use of the app, how data is handled across product builds, and the limitations of this tool.

1. DATA MEASUREMENT & MEDICAL DISCLAIMER (IMPORTANT)

This application is a technical data tracking software. It provides heart rate variability (HRV) metrics extracted via photoplethysmography (PPG) exclusively for personal self-tracking, data analysis, and informational purposes.

Non-Medical Service: The metrics provided by Lens HRV are shared for informational purposes only. They do not constitute, under any circumstances, medical advice, clinical diagnosis, or treatment, nor do they replace consultation with a qualified healthcare professional.

Potential Inaccuracy of Information: In compliance with app distribution policies, users are expressly warned that the metrics provided by the app are derived from consumer-grade optical sensors (such as smartphone cameras) and mathematical algorithms. Therefore, they may not be 100% accurate, up-to-date, or applicable to a user's specific health condition. The use of any information or data provided by this app is strictly at the user's own risk.

Consult Your Doctor: Lens HRV is not intended to monitor, diagnose, or prevent any cardiovascular or medical condition. If you experience any health problems, discomfort, or plan to make lifestyle changes based on the app's metrics, always consult a licensed physician before making any decisions.

2. DISTRIBUTION CHANNELS & APP VARIANTS

Lens HRV is distributed through different channels (e.g., Samsung Galaxy Store and Open Source repositories such as GitHub). Depending on where you download the app, certain integrations vary:

Open Source / FOSS Edition (GitHub): The complete Lens HRV experience. Delivers the complete HRV tracking functionality entirely on-device, operating without extra dependencies.

Samsung Galaxy Store Edition: The exact same complete experience, with optional additions: opt-in telemetry (disabled by default) to help improve algorithms, and Samsung Billing for voluntary tips.

3. USER DATA & PRIVACY POLICY (ALL VARIANTS)

Collected User Data: To provide our core metrics, the app processes raw numerical data only. Lens HRV does not record or save videos or images. When the user places a finger on the camera, our Camera Analyzer instantly converts the microscopic changes in light reflection (blood pulse) into numbers. This numerical data is stored inside your phone's local database, saving anonymous rows per session.

Purposes of Using User Data: Lens HRV processes this numerical data strictly to calculate your metrics. We apply mathematical algorithms to the raw pulse signals entirely on your device—filtering noise and handling artifacts—to display your final heart rate and variability results.

No User Accounts: Lens HRV does not require account registration. Core physiological history is stored on your device, not in a personal cloud profile managed by us.

Local Data Control: Physiological data and history are stored exclusively on your local device storage for the core app experience. Since Lens HRV does not use user accounts, the user retains full and absolute control over this local data. You can completely erase your local database at any time by utilizing the data deletion option within the app settings or by simply uninstalling the application.

4. THIRD-PARTY SHARING (ALL VARIANTS)

No Commercial Sharing: Lens HRV DOES NOT sell, rent, lease, or share user data, telemetry, or physiological data with third parties, advertisement platforms, or data brokers under any circumstances.

5. SAMSUNG GALAXY STORE VARIANT

Voluntary Collaboration: Sending telemetry data is completely anonymous, optional, and controlled by the user at any time. It is designed as a voluntary contribution to train and optimize the capabilities of our processing algorithms. This feature is deactivated by default.

Transmitted Telemetry Dataset: When enabled, the application transmits session-specific technical metrics to our server. This data strictly includes: raw pulse numerical waveforms, metrics calculated by the local algorithm, and technical hardware specifications.

Network Efficiency: To protect your mobile data plan and battery life, data transmission is non-intrusive and runs quietly in the background. The application strictly requires Wi-Fi connections and optimal device conditions to sync data, ensuring it never consumes your cellular network or drains your power.

Anonymous Trend Analysis: To analyze signal behavior, calibration trends, and algorithm performance over time, a randomly generated installation ID is assigned to the data. This identifier is purely mathematical, is not linked to any personal identity, and does not collect names, emails, IP addresses, or permanent device IDs (such as IMEI).

Telemetry Data Deletion: Any technical data contributed via our optional server telemetry is stored as permanently anonymous rows. Because this data is completely disassociated from your personal identity, name, or email, it cannot be manually retrieved or deleted upon request.

Voluntary Support & Tips: The Samsung Galaxy Store build offers an option to send voluntary financial tips to support the ongoing development of Lens HRV via Samsung In-App Purchase (IAP). These tips are purely voluntary contributions and DO NOT unlock any additional features, medical algorithms, or exclusive app metrics.

Billing & Refunds: All payment processing, purchase confirmations, and refund requests are handled exclusively by Samsung Billing under Samsung's store policies. Lens HRV does not process, collect, or store any credit card or financial information.

6. AMENDMENTS & UPDATES

Lens HRV reserves the right to revise or update these Terms and Privacy Policy at any time to reflect software optimizations, algorithmic updates, product-build changes, or regulatory changes. The most current version will always be accessible on this website and, where applicable, within the application settings.
